Roe’s adventure at the drowning tavern

The smell of fish seemed to find its way to Roe’s nose.  And in turn she found its source, the Drowning Tavern.  As she burst through the door, her eyes landed on the legendary depiction of the drowning man painted behind the bar.  At that moment, Roe felt something cold and wet touch her arm, and she spun around to face her old friend Pellenistra.

The drow, wearing a clock the color of a stormy sea and a dark hat dripping with briney water, grinned with a smile as bright as a lighthouse on a dark night.  She held out a pair of fish which smelled divine.  Row noticed the sparkly new gold on her outfit and jewels flashing on her hands, “Found you.”  Pellenistra said with a laugh.

“Well you play unfairly,” Roe accused as she began to ravenously eat the fish.  Not having a good meal in over a week has made her all the more hungry on this night in February.

The drow respond coldly and with a blank stare.

“Pellenistra, you need to pay your taxes.”

Pellenistra became enraged.  “Why should I?  Its my hard-earned money”

“It’s the law.”

“Well the law has done nothing for me and neither has the government.  I don't care who they send my way, I’m NOT paying my taxes.”  Pellanistra dropped her friend seriousness and smiled.

“Good.  I don’t pay my taxes either.  That’s why I need your help…”

The drow reached into her jacket and handed a slip of paper to Roe.  On it was a “Failure to pay.” notice from the IRS.

A little while later…

A man dressed in a shabby suit was tied to a chair, his tie stuffed into his mouth and a wild, desperate look in his eyes.

“Now that we have him trussed up and stuffed like a turkey,” Roe said admiring her handy work, “Do we get to throw him into the river?”

Pellenistra smiled. “I have an idea.”

Outside of the Xanathar’s guild.

A troll glowered down at the nervous, shabby suited man staring up at him, “What 'cha want?”

The man wiped his brow with a scrap of paper before handing it to the troll.  “It’s, uh, about the matter of some unpaid property taxes…”

                                              The End.
