Polly and Crystal Brook’s adventure.
Fate is a funny thing, it brings people together and tears them apart. Putting the unlikely with each other, whether for amusement or a greater purpose is unknown. Here in today’s story fate, it seemed, decided that Polly and Crystal Brook should meet, join forces and overcome a great bandit layer that had been tormenting Proskur, a town a few days journey away. Each for their own reason happened upon Proskur, for either rest, supplies or gold is unclear. Yet each learned of the bandit layer, a few day's journey distance, that had recently taken many of the town’s folk. Some of the locals said it was to sell them, others say that the bandits need more bodies to practice their strange arts. Some thought it was for sacrifices because they had heard the bandits also dealt in dragon eggs. It didn’t matter the reason, for when Polly and Crystal Brook heard of their plight they, with some of the men of the town, charged in the bandit layer. During the two day trip there they had gotten to know each other. Learning enough to better work together when they arrived. They dealt with the scourge of bandits, some of the men folk say there was lots of yelling. Strange in people’s description of the two adventurers is different. Some say it was Polly who did the killing while Crystal Brook just waved her hands about. Others say it was Crystal Brook who did everything. There was even one man who said Polly threw Crystal Brook! These are commoners and aren't much for details. I will tell the story to the best of my abilities if I can, but if you want the full details I suggest finding those two adventurers. Good luck if you try, they are always on the move and may not even be together anymore.
After taking down the guards at the entrance they wasted no time in running through the halls and smashing the faces of ugly brutes. Make no mistake this was no mera bandit lair, it was a formidable fortress of traps. The bandits layer was an old labyrinth filled to the brim with traps of all kinds.
No one knows whose idea it was but one of the two adventures started throwing the dead bodys ahead of them to trigger the traps. I as a storyteller can’t help but think it was the Goliath Polly, with her height and strength it would be an easy thing for her. After finding many rooms with treasure or strange books, even one with two dragon eggs! (Which they destroyed with all hast, taking out a small dragon cuilt at the same time.) They then found the cells the town folk were kept in, in the back of the labyrinth. It took a few minutes for it seems the bandits had organized them, some for sacrifices, others for strange magic arts and others for entertainment. (There were only two deaths of the men who came with Polly and Crystal Brook.) They got out of there leaving the places in shambles and taking some time to destroy anything that looked like it could be used for evil. By the time they returned to the Proskur, the bandit layer smelled foul as the bandits deeds. No one will want to enter that place for many decades.
Our two adventures returned with shouts of praise and thanks from the town folk, many urging them to stay. But these two women's hearts are to exploration and their nature would not allow them to stay anywhere for long for evil is always on the move. Though one or both of these women left a sizable amount of the gold for the town before departing. One man even said Crystal Brook made a map of the labyrinth and is the only one known to have one of that place. I can only guess they traveled for some time before departing their own ways. Here ends this short story of two unlikely women, a Goliath and a water Genasi saving the day in a town they were just passing through.
