Sixteenth entry

I must share this before anything else, I learned that Trollskull manor & inn is next door to a library!  I fear most of my time will be spent there, when I’m able that is.  The missions come in such a way that I wonder if I’ll spend much time reading.  I do have my own reading room and it is wonderful, but a whole library next door.  Few things can compare to that.  I spent a day meeting my neighbors, that is of course how I found the library.   It felt good to meet people who I wasn’t investigating, though there was one man who seemed to hide something.  So Mr. Brightwood told me.  We also met a detective, I was not thrilled with him.  I have nothing to hide of my conduct.  Just who I am in truth, once I would have considered him a type of ally but now I find I feel towards him as though he were the enemy.  I think I just fear discovery, I am still learning my new role.  I purchased new armor for myself, and opened a tab for health potions.  I’ll keep my business affairs in another book.  I forget, that morning Mr. Brightwood and I met another half elf, his name is Sir Darius Glorfindel a nobleman.  I do not hate him as I thought I would, I guess Sir Antonio de Delicado did more than I thought to change my hate of nobles.  My past seems to come up even when I choose to forget, funny I suppose.  I have forgotten most of my life and the twenty years I do remember I now wish to bury.  At least enough that no one else will ever learn there is more to me than what meets the eye.  After learning the area surrounding me, we learned of another mission.  We went there and met our informant.  She told us that there was to be a meeting of Zhentarim in this fighting arena, to which was at the bar she asked us too.  We went in, I disguised myself as a she-elf fighter.  Darius Glorfindel went to join in the fights, apparently he just wanted to fight.  Mr. Brightwood and the other Second Chance agent and myself went in look for the secret meeting.  Behind some bleachers I listened to a voice I knew, she was one of the Zhentarim that I had met before.  (I wrote their plans elsewhere.)   She ran and I followed, I believe Mr. Brightwood did something to help for she seemed to run into everything.  When I caught up to her she pulled a knife and stabbed herself then called out.  She was getting annoyed, I played surprised that my “friend” would stab herself.  I claimed that she had been drunk and was excited to see the fights, that she came to watch me in the next match but she must have thought that she was in the fight and harmed herself somehow.  I don’t know if they bought it, but they brought the woman and I to a room.  After many words, they let me join the fight and write my “friend” a note.  I told the Zhentarim woman that I was also a Zhentarim and was looking to join my small group with others.   She must have seen through my disguise because when we (Sir Darius) excited the arena I was arrested by the city watch for being Zhentarim.  Sir Darius was preoccupied with being crowned the arena champion.  I accepted the guards and turned back to myself and this time I saw Mr. Brightwood casting magic to fool the guards.  We left and went to Trollskull manor getting there in two different durations.   Sir Darius is on his own, I still have no idea what became of him and I had no time to think.  We had just walked in and heard a drunkard blabbering about his misfortune.   I needed to silence him so he wasn’t disturbing my other guest.  I hate drunkards, they remind me of noblemen.  At least the kind that was thrust into my acquaintance.  After telling him that he needed to sober up and that I would talk to him in the morning, I told him that the night was free of charge.  The next day he was more coherent and I learned he was a merchant and had lost everything to bandits outside the walls.  Mr. Brightwood wanted to go and help, I could care less.  I was not in the frame of mind to help, but in the end I’m glad I did.  After more information and preparations we left, he apparently also lost his assistant Molly.  Between Mr. Brightwood and myself were able to find the trail and follow it.  Mr. Brightwood is a kind man, at times he reminds me of Salin.  I’m not sure what it is, but I feel that his past is more kin to Salins or maybe it’s the eyes.  I’m not sure.  We found the clearing and formed a plan, though it did not go the way we intended.  I went down and designed myself as a Tiefling slave trader, I told them that I wanted their prisoners.  I did more than demand, bluffed and said that I came alone because they could do nothing to harm me and that I never lost a deal and the few who turned on me are now mine.  My new magic still throws me for a loop for as I waited for their reply I could understand their clicking language.  Of course I than started glowing, I don’t know why but when they asked me to stop I told them I could not.  I thought fast and as crazy as it sounded they believed me, I told them that I glow sometimes because my vast magic could not be contained.   They bright the girl Molly out and they told me they had no others.  So of course they attacked because I would not pay for one prisoner, Mr. Brightwood and I knew that talking wouldn't get us anywhere.  We just wanted one of us to be close to save the girl if it went South.  Despatching them was easier than I thought, I’ve grown accustomed to believing everything is more powerful than I.  Again Mr. Brightwood reminded me of Salin, he went after the treasure and left me with the girl.  We returned her safely and I told him that he paid from here on.   A small part of me misses my old life, but when I recall it I remember why I left.  I must grow into my new part here, there are many who need help and I wish to do what I can.   I must go, it seems something has happened to disturb my quiet time.  It was good to put ink to paper again.
